Review:
This show was amazing! I was not expecting it to be that great, but I came out of the theatre in awe. It started as a plan for me and my friend DJ to go and do rush tickets. Unfortunately he got really badly sick a few days before and could not come. Oh well, me and my mom took the train and got to the theatre by 9:00 and were the first in line for rush tickets, because we were the only people there! After an hour of waiting we got 10th row tickets to the right for $50.00! We had till kill time for about 3 and a half hours until the show started. I saw when we did rush at 10:00 that the "At This Performance” board had Nikki Bohne on it. I was like yes, but the main cast member (Taylor Louderman) ended up being on. When the show started I fell in love with it instantly. I had never seen the movie or even bothered to read the synopsis and the musical felt so original. Taylor Louderman was amazing as Campbell she head amazing singing skills, brilliant funny and serious acting, and a super freaking awesome dancer! Adrienne Warren did amazing as Danielle her vocal range is out of this world! I liked Jason Gotay alot as Randal. His singing voice was really nice. Elle McLemore was wickedly evil as Eva. She was insane. Ryann Redmond was a standout as Bridget. She was so funny and really got the audience laughing hard. I loved Kate Rockwell as Skyler A.K.A The Bitch Who Admits It. I just wish her character did more in the show. Michael Mindlin was on for La Cienega and he did a great job and was extremely funny, although in my opinion the character felt odd in place with the story. I mean it was a posy of three girls and one of them is a drag queen. I was like WTF? But he was awesome! The sets were pretty cool and the dancing was jaw dropping! The music was so catchy and amazing! If the show does not go to Broadway then I would be pissed! My seats were awesome. I love this show it’s now one of my favorites I hope one day I can see it again! I would rate this show 10/10
Stage Door:
Stage door was cool. After the show they did Broadway Cares: Equity Fights AIDS. I was worried the cast would not come out, but they did! I wanted to have two Playbills singed (one for me and one for my friend who could not come) and to also have my souvenir program singed as well. I think Dexter Carr came out first and singed. Then Michael Mindlin came out but walked over to the side then I came by him and asked him to sign. He was so nice and he told us how he was unsure if he would go on again tonight or if the main actor would come back. He needed to know so he could take off the make-up. Then a bunch of other people came out but I honestly can’t decipher their signatures so I can’t tell who they were. Elle McLemore came out and she was so nice I was like you were Eva right? She was like "don't be scared of me I'm not evil!" LOL. Then Jason Gotay came out and as he singed my program he said it was the first one he ever singed because there new. Taylor Louderman came out and singed and was really nice and sweet. Last to come out was Ryann Redmond. She was so nice and apologized for taking a long time to get out. Then we went home.
